What was it like on the Keano kit shoot?
There are many times that, as a Manchester United fan who works for this great football club, I have to take a step back and pinch myself.
The night spent at Old Trafford with Roy Keane recently, filming around the launch for our 2023/24 adidas third kit, was definitely one of those moments.
The day had been scorching hot, but just as I arrived at the stadium the heavens opened - it felt like I was in the centre of a storm.
Once I made my way down the tunnel, I couldn’t help but feel that the angry skies and moody weather were quite fitting for what was about to unfold.

I must admit that I was a little nervous knowing that I was going to be meeting and talking to one of my United heroes – but it wasn’t just any ex-player.
To paraphrase the man himself: this was Roy Keane. One of the club’s greatest-ever midfielders, a true football legend and – famously – a man who does not suffer fools gladly.
I was a little on edge, but what a fantastic guy he was.
Despite the shoot being delayed slightly due to the weather, Roy was in great spirits and he was happy to do the various takes required to make what has turned out to be a truly viral video around our latest strip.
As each moment was being captured, I knew the end product was going to be good and that United fans around the world would be lapping up every second of this video.
Roy Keane? At Old Trafford? Talking about what it means to be a Red? It can’t get much better than that...
I’ll let you in on a couple of secrets from the shoot, too.
You know the moment in the teaser video, where Keano emerges from the shadows, to the sound of thunder?
That wasn’t a neat trick conjured in post-production, it was real. Right on cue, the heavens echoed, making the moment even more dramatic. Like it was meant to be.
The end scene – evoking an infamous interview from Roy’s playing days – sparked a surreal moment pitchside, too.

Did I ever think I’d be stood on the sidelines at one of the world’s most famous stadiums, talking about prawn sandwiches, with Roy Keane?
No, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
