Manchester United’s new signing Mason Mount is beginning to settle into life as a Red, following the announcement of his transfer from Chelsea on Wednesday morning.

News of the England international officially becoming Erik ten Hag’s first signing of the summer is being reacted to across social media, with supporters expressing their thoughts on the inaugural images of Mount in United colours.

Also having a say on the breaking story has been several of Mason’s new team-mates, who have been welcoming our latest no.7 to the club.

The Reds announce the England international as our first arrival of the summer transfer window.

While we eagerly anticipate seeing the 24-year-old on the training pitch – and in action, of course – alongside his new companions, several members of the squad have already reached out to build connections.

That includes fellow midfielder Bruno Fernandes, who has faced the former Chelsea man seven times across our recent meetings with the Blues.

Supporters may remember the two players exchanging some passionate words during a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in the Premier League just over a year ago, and Bruno shared a snapshot from that moment while light-heartedly welcoming Mount.

“Why did you take so long to sign?” Fernandes joked on his Instagram Story, with an angry-face emoji.

“Welcome, @masonmount,” he added.

Our no.8 no doubt appreciates the quality his new team-mate will bring to the club, as does Diogo Dalot, who has also posted about the news.

“Welcome to the family, @masonmount,” the defender said.

The right-back has had close encounters with Mount during both of the games he’s played against Chelsea over the past two seasons, in which Mason lined up on the left of an attacking three for his former side.

While Dalot and Fernandes will share a dressing room with our new signing for the first time at United, there are a number of Reds who have already played alongside our newly unveiled midfielder.

That includes captain Harry Maguire, who has represented England alongside Mount, and has shared his delight at the latter’s addition too.

“Welcome mate, @masonmount,” posted Harry, alongside an image of the two celebrating together for the Three Lions.

Mount is set to link up with his new colleagues for the first time when pre-season training gets under way at Carrington this week.

LEGENDARY SEAL OF APPROVAL

Former United centre-back Rio Ferdinand knows a thing or two about what makes a successful player at Old Trafford, and he has expressed his content at the news of Mount’s arrival.

Speaking on Twitter, Rio said: “Really pleased with Mount coming in. Young, talented and hungry.

“He has the experience of big games with pressure which comes when playing for United.

“As a player he will bring us goals, creativity, a work ethic and a willing runner into the opposition box.

“He definitely adds to what we have in the squad and is different from the others in midfield.”
