Who could United face next in the FA Cup?

Sunday 08 January 2023 09:51

Manchester United can look forward to playing in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup after progressing with a 3-1 triumph against Everton at Old Trafford.

The Reds made it eight home wins in a row with Antony's fourth-minute opener, Conor Coady's own goal and Marcus Rashford's injury-time penalty, as Erik ten Hag tasted victory while taking charge of his first match in the FA Cup.

While United’s immediate focus now turns to another knockout competition, with the visit of Charlton Athletic next Tuesday (10 January, 20:00 GMT) in the Carabao Cup quarter-final, we will wait with intrigue to discover our reward for seeing off Everton.

The Reds pile on to celebrate Antony's early goal against Everton.

With Friday's televised tie at Old Trafford being the first of this weekend’s 32 third-round fixtures, Ten Hag and his squad have had to wait for a couple of days for our fourth-round venue and opponents to be confirmed.

The draw will be made this afternoon (Sunday) from 16:05 GMT, live on BBC One in the UK, ahead of the all-Premier League tie between Manchester City and Chelsea across town at the Etihad Stadium.

Fourth-round fixtures will be played on Friday 27, Saturday 28, Sunday 29 and Monday 30 January. This means United's tie will fall between the Premier League trip to Arsenal on Sunday 22 January, and Crystal Palace's visit to Old Trafford the following weekend, on Saturday 4 February.

But if the Reds can overcome Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on Tuesday, there will also be a semi-final tie to prepare for in that competition, in the midweek leading up to the FA Cup fourth-round weekend.
