When Mason Greenwood really made his mark

Mason Greenwood has signed a new contract with Manchester United as we look forward to watching our exciting teenager develop even further.

The homegrown talent had always shown off his potential, ahead of schedule, when rising through the ranks at the Aon Training Complex.

However, there is one game that will stick in the minds of most youth observers, more than most, as he really announced himself with an incredible hat-trick in a 4-3 victory over Chelsea in an FA Youth Cup tie in December 2018.

Mason inspired the young Reds with a complete striker's performance to inflict Chelsea's first defeat in the competition for over five years during a thriller at Leigh Sports Village in front of the MUTV cameras.

Di'Shon Bernard, who is currently on loan at Salford City, scored our other goal on the night. Current first-teamer Brandon Williams skippered the Reds before being withdrawn due to injury on the hour mark.

Tariq Lamptey, who has shown his worth at Brighton & Hove Albion, scored for the visitors and the Blues side was captained by Billy Gilmour. The highly rated Tino Anjorin was also on the scoresheet.
