Which Red brings the best out in Mount?
Mason Mount says there is often a Manchester United team-mate he finds himself up against in training.
The Reds midfielder, who scored our winner at Crystal Palace, before coming off the bench in the 1-1 draw against West Ham United, knows how important the behind-the-scenes work is at Carrington, if we are to push on this term.
When talking about the need to win one-on-one duels, a facet of play forwarded by Noussair Mazraoui in another recent club media interview, Mount admitted he is often marked by the Morocco international in training.
'Time on the training ground matters'
BIG INTERVIEW | Mason Mount explains why the squad's bond can help us achieve our goals...
"Me and Nous, actually, we are always kind of going up against each other in training," he told United Review. "So we both love it.
"We’re trying to get the best out of each other and that’s the most important thing. I think, if you look at the squad now, there is loads of competition for places and that’s exactly what we need because the standard is always pushing higher and higher and higher.
"And we need to continue to set those standards high because we want to achieve a lot. So, yeah, I think it’s massively important for us, as a group, to be competitive but, as soon as it goes onto the pitch, for us to be competitive against our opposition, that’s a given."
The competitive streak will be needed on Monday, as we look to bounce back from the disappointing result in Thursday's Old Trafford encounter with the Hammers.
Wolves are desperate to provide a lift to their supporters, after only securing two points all season to date, and United must be looking to climb the table, once the weekend top-flight fixtures are all completed.
Ruben Amorim's side are back at Old Trafford a week later, for the visit of Bournemouth.
