Revealed: The kit we'll wear on Sunday

Manchester United’s three adidas kits for the 2021/22 season have received rave reviews and all were on show as fans piled back into Old Trafford at the weekend.

So far, we’ve only actually seen the first-team lads sport the home jersey while out on the pitch, with United in red for Saturday’s stonking 5-1 win over Leeds United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side also wore home colours for each of the four pre-season friendlies, although the bold new away kit was slated for a debut at Deepdale, before the clash with Preston North End had to be cancelled.

The first Premier League trip of the season is on the horizon and, with Southampton the hosts in their red and white stripes, United will have to debut one of the alternative kits – but which will it be?

We can reveal that the lads will rock the electrifying blue, yellow and black third strip, officially launched last Thursday.

United’s new gear takes inspiration from the 1993/94 away shirt, a season in which the Reds ran out comfortable 3-1 winners at the Saints’ old home, The Dell, thanks to goals from Lee Sharpe, Eric Cantona and Denis Irwin.

More of the same would be most welcome, as would an appearance for Raphael Varane.

Our new signing was pictured in the shirt at a photoshoot earlier this week, but we’d all love to see the Frenchman sporting it in the heart of battle!

The 28-year-old has started training with his new club, but it remains to be seen whether he is ready for competitive action.

Jadon Sancho featured prominently in the marketing too and he will be pushing for a starting spot having had the chance to acclimatise during training and the last 15 minutes of the Leeds win.

Interestingly, we ran a poll at the weekend asking Official App users which of the club’s three new kits they preferred.

The third-choice strip narrowly pipped the home colours – see the full results above – and we hope it will help spur the lads on to victory at St Mary’s.
