Tuesday 01 November 2022 07:00

Manchester United's busy October schedule is over, so it is time to vote for the club's Player of the Month.

As there were nine games, and four Reds clear in terms of nominations, we have decided to increase our shortlist in order to provide an additional option for supporters.

The quartet competing for the trophy are Casemiro, Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford.

Read a summary of their month's work and get involved via our poll before the results are released on Thursday at 12:00 GMT...

Who is your Player of the Month?

CASEMIRO: 8 (1) apps / 1 gl / 2 MOTMs

The Brazil international may have been eased into life in the Premier League but he is firmly up and running now. He was excellent in the win at Everton, assisting Cristiano Ronaldo's winner and picked up his first Man-of-the-Match award in the goalless draw with Newcastle United at Old Trafford, setting up a late chance for Rashford. A second star-man prize was not long in coming, as he shone at Chelsea and, of course, scored his first goal for the club with the wildly celebrated injury-time header. However, much of his best work is unsung and unheralded in the middle of the park.

DIOGO DALOT: 9 apps / 1gl

The Portugal international started all nine games at right-back and has become a permanent fixture in Erik ten Hag's team. Not only do the stats show his attacking influence but he got off the mark for the campaign with a header from Christian Eriksen's corner to get the ball rolling against Sheriff Tiraspol. A consistent run of form included superb showings against Tottenham and Chelsea before he made at least four vital defensive headers inside the box during the hard-fought 1-0 win over West Ham United last time out.

LISANDRO MARTINEZ: 9 apps

The Argentina centre-back has become a huge fans' favourite with his passion and quality, and his consistency has been excellent since the defence really tightened up. Stand-out displays include a wonderful job in shackling Tottenham danger man Harry Kane in our 2-0 victory and a classy performance at Chelsea. Another masterclass followed against West Ham, including one saving challenge in the first half that drew specific praise from manager Ten Hag.

MARCUS RASHFORD: 7 (2) apps / 4 gls / 1 MOTM

The homegrown hero hit 100 goals with his header against West Ham, his fourth strike of the month. He came off the bench to great effect at Omonia Nicosia in the Europa League and shrugged off illness to come on and go close to getting a late winner against Newcastle. Hugo Lloris kept him at bay with some fine stops in the Spurs game but he nodded home against Sheriff Tiraspol and then found the net again, decisively, in the success against David Moyes's Hammers.
