Who do United fans want to draw in the play-offs?

Manchester United fans have been voting for their preferred opponents in today's Europa League knockout round play-offs draw and the answer is clear.

A poll was opened within the United App and on ManUtd.com last Thursday evening following the conclusion of our 1-0 win over Real Sociedad and the response has been absolutely massive. 

In case you didn't already know, as a result of finishing second in our group, the Reds must now face one of the eight clubs who have been eliminated from the Champions League. 

The list of possible opponents includes some illustrious names: Ajax, Barcelona, Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus, RB Salzburg, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk and Sporting.

There had been plenty of chat last week about the desire to avoid such big names in the next round, but our poll shows that United fans fear nobody and want to face the best possible opposition. 

As you can see in the results below, Barcelona are the supporters’ preferred foes in the play-offs with 25 per cent of the votes cast.

The Spanish giants are closely followed by Shakhtar Donetsk (21 per cent) and Ajax (17 per cent), with whom we share several obvious connections - including Erik ten Hag, Lisandro Martinez and Antony, to name just three. Take a look...

WHEN IS THE DRAW?

Today's draw at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland will begin at 12:00 GMT (13:00 local time) and we will publish the outcome on ManUtd.com and the United App as soon as it is finalised.

United and the other seven Europa League runners-up will each face one of the eight sides who have dropped into the competition after finishing third in their Champions League groups.
The full line-up of teams who are in the play-off draw is as follows:

Europa League runners-up: Roma, Manchester United, PSV Eindhoven, Midtjylland, Monaco, Nantes, Rennes, Union Berlin.

Champions League third-placed clubs: Ajax, Barcelona, Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus, RB Salzburg, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sporting.

WHO WENT STRAIGHT THROUGH?

The eight clubs who won their Europa League groups and therefore go straight through to the last 16 are:

Arsenal, Fenerbahce, Real Betis, Union St.Gilloise, Real Sociedad, Feyenoord, Freiburg and Ferencvaros.
