Who was our Man of the Match?

Manchester United defeated Sheriff Tiraspol 3-0 in Group E of the Europa League.

Goals from Diogo Dalot, Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo secured a comfortable passage into the next round of the competition, but the Reds must win by two clear goals at Real Sociedad next week to usurp the Spanish side as group winners.

With Erik ten Hag's men in control throughout, it was always going to be a close-run thing for our Man-of-the-Match vote.

Alejandro Garnacho came out on top of the poll in the United App, with 31 per cent, after an entertaining display down the left flank. The teenager was handed his maiden senior start by Ten Hag and responded with a positive performance, almost scoring with a shot over the bar from a well-worked corner.

Ronaldo was in second spot, with 24 per cent, as he was heavily involved and got his goal to cap the night off, while Christian Eriksen, who pulled the strings from a deep midfield position, came next on 22 per cent.

“This crowd they love entertainment as well and I think this lad was really entertaining, almost like a young Cristiano [Ronaldo] at that age," Reds legend Paul Scholes told BT Sport. "Taking the skill, taking the ball down like he did there with a little backheel.

“I was impressed, there are some wingers that can only go one way sometimes and he’s a right-footed winger playing on the left-hand side, sometimes they can’t go down that left-hand side but he did. He could do both, it makes you so unpredictable.

“I though his performance was exciting, really exciting for an 18-year-old kid and he really is one to look for the future.”

This is the first time Alejandro has won the award in a competitive game, of course.
