Scott McTominay fired the winner past the outstanding Francis Uzoho to end the visitors' brave resistance, from a pass by another substitute, Jadon Sancho.

Erik ten Hag's side dominated the game, and carved out numerous opportunities, so there were several candidates for our Man-of-the-Match award, as voted by fans in the United App.

Although it is fair to say the inspired Ozoho was probably the overall star man at Old Trafford, in terms of the best United performer, matchwinner McTominay topped our vote with 43 per cent, just reward for his priceless contribution and cool head in front of goal.

The substitute finished well clear of second-placed Marcus Rashford and Casemiro in third spot.

It is the first time Scott has scooped the award this term but, unfortunately, he will absent for our next outing - Sunday's Premier League home match with Newcastle United.

The Scotland international picked up a fifth booking of the domestic campaign at Everton which results in a one-match suspension.
