Who was United's Man of the Match at Tottenham?

Thursday 27 April 2023 23:36

Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw by Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, as second-half goals from Pedro Porro and Heung-min Son cancelled out pre-interval strikes by Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford.

Erik ten Hag's men had raced into a two-goal lead after a thoroughly impressive first-half display, with Sancho netting inside the opening 10 minutes of the encounter.

Rashford then smashed home his 29th goal of the season in all competitions, with the Reds entering the break in a seemingly commanding position.

But a goal each from Porro and Son during the second period meant the points were shared in north London, as we remain in fourth place in the Premier League standings.

Why Rashford is the best since van Persie

Marcus scored his 29th goal of the season during our 2-2 draw at Tottenham.

Luke Shaw again proved his defensive versatility with another solid display at centre-back, partnering our recent FA Cup semi-final penalty hero Victor Lindelof.

Bruno Fernandes also continually found pockets of space to set the Reds free in attack, registering a fantastic assist for Rashford's goal shortly before the half-time whistle sounded.

There were candidates all over the pitch for our Man-of-the-Match award, then. But who did the majority of supporters favour in the United App poll?

The overall winner - receiving 35 per cent of the vote - was Rashford, after another strong display from our no.10.

The England international registered both a goal and an assist against the Lilywhites, proving his might as he headed up our attack, having been named through the middle in the starting XI at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Poking the ball through to Sancho for the games opening goal, Marcus also lashed home our second of the evening, taking his tally in the Premier League to 16 for the campaign so far.

Coming shortly behind Marcus in the polling was our ever-threatening Portuguese playmaker Fernandes, who scooped 24 per cent of the votes after his display against the Lilywhites.

Our no.8 was on the mark to set up our second goal, and despite being unfortunate to not help the Reds claim all three points against one of our top-four rivals, Bruno can take positives from his display, having been a doubt to even feature in the fixture prior to kick-off, following an injury he picked up in Sunday's FA Cup semi-final.

You can see the final poll result in full below, with much of the voting split between Fernandes and Rashford.

Thank you to everyone who voted.
