David De Gea denies Saint-Maximin.

Who was United's Man of the Match?

Manchester United drew 1-1 at Newcastle United on a wet Tyneside evening with Edinson Cavani levelling the contest after Allan Saint-Maximin's first-half opener.

The Reds were not at our best after a break enforced by the postponements of the games against Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Cavani did retrieve the situation with his finish, at the second attempt, following Diogo Dalot's ball into the box and the Uruguayan's name was sung to the rafters by the away end up in the gods at St James' Park.

However, while Edi finished up on 17 per cent to earn second place in our Man of the Match poll, there was only ever going to be one winner.

David De Gea romped it with a commanding 70 per cent of votes cast and it is no more than he deserved after stunning second-half saves from Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron.

The stop from Almiron was one of the best in the division all season as he tipped a goalbound curler over the bar in sensational fashion.

This is the sixth time David has won a Man of the Match award this season.

He was previously voted star performer against Wolves, West Ham United, Villarreal, Chelsea and Norwich City, meaning this is the second game in succession when he has come out on top.

The 70 per cent polled is the highest he has managed this term.
