Who was United's Man of the Match v Fulham?

Saturday 04 November 2023 17:25

A determined all-round performance saw Manchester United leave Craven Cottage with all three points in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Bruno Fernandes’s stoppage-time strike ensured the Reds would defeat Fulham 1-0 in the Premier League and thus get back to winning ways following back-to-back defeats at home.

Our difficult run of recent form meant the pressure was on before the clash in west London and, in a closely contested clash that could have gone either way, the Reds produced a resilient display to take the maximum points home from the capital.

Erik ten Hag's men produced standout contributions all over the pitch, with the decisive impact being made by Fernandes in the 91st minute. However, was his decisive goal enough to win him our Man of the Match award?

It certainly was. Nearly half of the United supporters who voted in our official poll on ManUtd.com and the United App picked our Portuguese Magnifico - 49 percent in fact.

It means that Bruno takes our latest Man of the Match accolade to go with his magic moment in added time, with the importance of his late strike being clear for all to see.

Before then, the midfielder had multiple efforts kept out by Fulham's Bernd Leno and was a constant creative threat as the Reds looked to carve out a breakthrough moment.
While his late heroics make Fernandes a deserved winner of our prize, several of his United team-mates were recognised for their contributions across the 90 minutes in our fan poll at full-time.

Harry Maguire – who took a knock to the face inside the opening minutes of the game – battled on admirably to play the full game and help us keep an important clean sheet, with his efforts seeing him take second place on 20 percent.

Alejandro Garnacho – after a lively showing on the left flank – completed the top four with eight percent.
