Who was United's Man of the Match in Spain?

Manchester United extended the current unbeaten run in all competitions to nine games, as Erik ten Hag's men saw off Real Sociedad 1-0 thanks to Alejandro Garnacho's first senior strike for the club.

Having already confirmed our progression in the Europa League prior to kick off at the Reale Arena, the Reds needed to beat the hosts by two clear goals to seize top spot in Group E.

Despite a concerted attacking effort late on, the decisive second goal that would have allowed us to emerge as group winners did not materialise and we now have to contemplate an extra two fixtures, in this season's knockout round play-offs.

Amid what was another strong team performance, there were some impressive individual displays, not least in defence with another clean sheet being kept - our sixth in the last seven games.

Lisandro Martinez was as impressive as ever in our backline, with Victor Lindelof also performing admirably, following his return from illness.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen once again featured alongside each other in the deeper two midfield positions. The Brazilian also filled in at centre-back late on, as United pushed to try and score an all-important second goal in San Sebastian.

Bruno Fernandes operated out on the right for most of the proceedings, and his smart header helped the Reds spring forward for the game's only goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo led the line well, with our no.7 keen to push Ten Hag's side forward late on during the game.

But the fans' votes for Man of the Match in our app flooded in for one young man in particular - Alejandro Garnacho. The teenager scoops our award, after opening his senior goals account in United colours.

It's a win in Spain but not by the margin we needed. Who is your Man of the Match?poll

Having been a constant threat throughout the opening exchanges, the 19-year-old burst through from the left-hand side following Ronaldo's slide-rule pass, firing home into the roof of the net.

David De Gea and Martinez both picked up 15 per cent of the votes, claiming joint second place. Our Spanish no.1 was again in top form to deny both Andoni Gorosabel and Pablo Marin late on in the first half, with the latter's effort coming back off his head and bouncing over the bar.

Cristiano came third, with the veteran forward unfortunate not to add to his season tally of two so far this term.

Alejandro has followed in the footsteps of some stellar United Academy products by scoring in Spain.

Pulling out his idol's famous celebration in the process, the young Red will be keen to build on another stellar showing, after impressing against Sheriff last time out at Old Trafford in the Europa League.

Congratulations, Alejandro!
