Everton 0 United Women 2
ArticleOur report of the action at Walton Hall Park, where Marc Skinner's Reds made it two wins from two in the League Cup.
A fabulous team effort made the poll tough for United fans and three standout individual displays were separated by just two points at the top.
Maya Le Tissier putting in a captain's performance just edged the result, as our no.4 earned a majority 17 per cent of the vote.
The England international commanded the Reds for the full 90 minutes, but it was her goal which really impressed, as she brought the ball down before powering it into the net, leaving goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan with no chance of saving it.
Hayley Ladd delivered the corner which Brosnan spilled into the path of Malard, but it was deemed to have gone over the line before the French forward got a touch.
However, our no.9 created plenty more chances and caused the Everton defence a lot of problems, to claim 16 per cent of the vote.
Meanwhile, Hayley Ladd completed the top three, coming third with 15 per cent of the vote after a strong performance from the off in midfield.
Congratulations to Maya on a deserved Player of the Match award, and thank you to everyone who got involved.
