Why is United v Brentford not live on TV?

Monday 03 April 2023 16:37

Manchester United's home game with Brentford is not being broadcast live in the UK.

The fixture has been rescheduled after initially being pencilled in for Sunday 26 February, the day we won the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

The reason that it was due to take place then, with a 13:30 GMT kick-off, was only because our Europa League play-off second leg with Barcelona was played on the preceding Thursday night, and not because of live television rights.

How to follow United v Brentford

The Reds return to Old Trafford on Wednesday, with Thomas Frank's side the visitors.

There is one other Premier League fixture on Wednesday, with West Ham United facing Newcastle United, also kicking off at 20:00 BST. This is the match that has been selected for live coverage on Sky Sports.

At the same time, BT Sport are screening the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final between Barcelona and Real Madrid, at the Nou Camp.

So the best way to follow the action, as it happens, is via the United App and on ManUtd.com. We'll have live radio commentary from Old Trafford, with Liam Bradford and former defender David May on duty from the press box, in addition to regular updates on how the game is unfolding.

For all the best build-up and reaction, check out MUTV's Match Day Live show, which starts at 18:55 BST.

A reminder that our following game, against Everton at Old Trafford on Saturday, is live on BT Sport with kick-off at 12:30 BST.
