Every single one of us dreams of representing Manchester United and leading the club to glory, as a player or manager – and there is one fixture that always comes to mind in this fantasy.

Liverpool away is unquestionably one of the biggest games of the season for many supporters, if not the biggest, and memories always come flooding back whenever this occasion comes around.

This blockbuster occasion provides an incomparable stage that can forge reputations and even cement legacies, as a select group of United players and managers have experienced in recent history - both on and off the pitch.

While dreaming about this Sunday’s Premier League collision - when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side could move six points clear at the top - we came up with this difficult hypothetical question:

At Anfield, would you rather…

  • Save a penalty
  • Score the winner
  • Captain the team to a win
  • Manage the team in a victory
Here’s how fans on our official Facebook page are answering…

Bright Kumwembe: “A 95th minute and very controversial penalty at the Kop end. I miss but I am asked to retake as the keeper was off the line. Stuff of dreams.”

Stanley Onwuka: “Managing the win at Anfield would be a massive delight, considering the tremendous run of form they've had at home in the Premier League.”

James McNamara: “Save a penalty in the last five seconds of the match with us winning 1-0. I would just love it.”

Karthik PV: “Gary Neville said it best - scoring a winner at Anfield in front of the Kop. Diego Forlan is a United hero for the two goals he scored against Liverpool.”

David Williams: “I'd go for Harry Maguire to do the top three. What odds? Captain the side, score a late header for 1-0 and save a penalty after De Gea has to go off!”

Shree Ghimire: “I'd be the goalkeeper, and the captain, save a penalty and score the winning goal via a header in the 90th minute and go hug the manager for allowing me to run up for the corner.”

Josh Oladapo: “Score a winner and I can run over to the Kop end to celebrate a goal from my wildest dreams. That would make me so happy!”

Chibulu Musonda: “Stoppage-time penalty winner, in Fergie time, so that there is no time for them to recover, just time to nurse a broken heart."

Muhammed Shinaz: “Score the winner, definitely... none of the other options comes near to this!”

Aba Dazo: “Managing a win at Anfield would be a proud moment.”

Martin Jacobs: “Score the winner at Anfield, in stoppage time, and rub it in their faces.”

John Bosco Udosoh: “I would love to manage a win at Anfield because it's the biggest game of the season for both teams.”

Philemon Lenturkan: “Score a last-minute penalty to win the game, I will give anything for that.”
