'This is the best feeling ever!' - Young Red gets whole team's signatures at Newport

Supporters are sometimes treated to a signature or a photo here and there by players kindly giving their time after matches, but to get the whole side is certainly an unusual feat.

“Honestly, I can’t believe it,” said 14-year-old Billy Cassidy, before being distracted by an approaching Rasmus Hojlund and Raphael Varane.

“I was in a car crash two weeks ago. I broke my femur and foot.

“I’ve never got a player’s signature before. I’m just so happy.

Attending his fourth-ever United game, Billy got his tickets sorted before the crash, and wasn’t sure if he’d still be able to attend.

“We didn’t even think we’d get in with the wheelchair,” his Dad said.

“It’s unbelievable. I’m glad he’s still here, never mind the match! I’m lucky that he’s here with me, but this is unbelievable.

“We’ve never got this close to the pitch before. It’s the magic of the FA Cup.”

Billy’s recovering from his injuries well and agreed, with a beaming smile, that this would be a helpful boost as that recuperation continues.

“The first half was good tonight,” he reviewed.

“The atmosphere was decent but it’ll never be like Old Trafford.

“The second half, I was pretty angry, but we got the win. I can’t believe it, though, I swear to god this is the best feeling ever!

“Alejandro Garnacho’s my favourite player right now - Wayne Rooney’s my favourite ever - because he’s just great, he’s the next big thing.

“Luke Shaw was my favourite tonight because he gave me his shirt! But they’re all nice obviously. I am in some good mood now!

“I never thought I’d be going to watch Newport County against United, and then to go up on the Man United website as well! I can’t believe it.”
