Your United Pic: Sir Alex Ferguson

Wednesday 26 January 2022 12:33

Some of Manchester United's most legendary servants will be on display when six new photos – voted for by you, the fans – go up on show outside Old Trafford.

Earlier this week, we asked you to vote on eight iconic images of classic Old Trafford goals, and some era-defining shots of United and England legend Sir Bobby Charlton.

Now our focus switches to another knight of the realm – Sir Alex Ferguson, the most successful manager in the club's long and storied history.

Later in the week, we'll ask for your help when it comes to selecting the best pictures that feature Sir Matt Busby, European nights at Old Trafford and Manchester United Women.

But today, it 's all about Sir Alex – the Govan-born Scot who joined the club in November 1986 after an extraordinarily fruitful spell at Aberdeen. During 26 and a half trophy-laden years at Old Trafford, he would manage to surpass even those efforts north of the border, in a tenure that is simply unparalleled in the history of English football.

Enjoy watching this video tribute to Sir Alex before casting your vote.
First, Ferguson returned the top-flight title to United in 1992/93, after 26 barren years, and then he led the Reds to a first European Cup/Champions League in 31 years, at the end of the 1998/99 season – a campaign which saw United become the first and only English club, to date, to win the Treble.

Before his retirement in 2013, he helped us amass an incredible 13 Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues, five FA Cups, four League Cups – and plenty more, including both the Intercontinental Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. The latter two successes mean that United have twice been authoritatively crowned world champions.

Sir Alex remains one of the most defining and beloved figures in the club's history, and recently celebrated his 80th birthday. Old Trafford's North Stand was renamed the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand, in his honour, back in 2011.
