How fans are reacting to '1991: Rotterdam Revisited'

Our new film – ‘1991: Rotterdam Revisited’ – continues to inspire an emotional and nostalgic reaction from viewers across MUTV and YouTube.

The hour-long documentary celebrates the club’s famous Cup Winners’ Cup campaign in which Alex Ferguson’s Reds defeated Pecsi Munkas, Wrexham, Montpellier, Legia Warsaw and finally Barcelona to lift a first European trophy since the 1968 European Cup.

“For me, the only thing that bettered that was winning the title in 1992/93,” explains a beaming Bryan Robson, who returns to Stadion Feyenoord in our film alongside team-mate Denis Irwin and host Andy Mitten, the respected journalist and editor of United We Stand.

After a period of exclusivity on MUTV, ‘1991: Rotterdam Revisited’ is now available on YouTube and an exploration of the comments section highlights a warm reaction from viewers…

STREAMING NOW | ‘1991: Rotterdam Revisited’ is the story of our second European triumph, told by those who were there…

@YukenFarkov: Well done Andy Mitten! That was brilliant. I had just turned 14 a week before that final. I was at the 3-3 FA Cup final the year before and I think you captured the change in mood around English football and especially for United. Younger fans will never really understand what it was like to not have European football and the reputation English fans had. You really got that across in this film.

@Dharshan0_0: Such an iconic moment in the club's history. A night that ignited our club's European ambitions and paved the way for future successes.

@jonathannield: Incredible times supporting United, my 1st ever trip abroad.

@Scottuz: Oh the memories of that night in Rotterdam live strong in my mind, it was the start of something really special, you could feel it. And the next few seasons were a learning period in the Champions League, but by 99, we'd cracked it.

@eddiecasey3310: Remember it well. Sharpey was lightning quick, that Barcelona team was full of superstars, that win gave United the confidence to go on & win the league. Hughes, Brucey & Robbo - all legends!

@andylikesstuffchannel: Old school United. What a way to open the 90s. Great decade.

@paulmurphy4723: Along with Barcelona & Tokyo in 99, one of the top five games I've ever been at.

@kersaljay6755: ‘Bright Side of Life’ (in Montpellier) came from a very drunk ginger haired bloke after we’d scored the 2nd goal. He was in the side end and as everyone was celebrating he just wobbled down to the front started singing and everyone around him joined in, I was about 10 yards away. Should have claimed royalties off Cleese and Palin!

@harrydestaffano565: Excellent video. Great memories.

@regionalculturalcentrelett7778: Great viewing. Well done, Andy.
