Left-sided defender who looks extremely comfortable in possession.
Signed from Real Madrid in the summer of 2020, the Seville-born defender scored on his Under-18s debut in a win over Burnley. He was soon fast-tracked into the Under-23s and continued to impress, finding the net again with a long-range effort in a win at Brighton. In total, he made 20 appearances for Neil Wood's team in 2020/21, contributing five assists, and continued with the group on a permanent basis in 2021/22. A stellar season saw him named Denzil Haroun Reserve-Team Player of the Year in May 2022, and he was included in the matchday squad by Ralf Rangnick for first-team outings against Chelsea and Brighton. Alvaro joined Championship side Preston North End on loan for the 2022/23 campaign.
