After joining Manchester United’s Academy at the age of 13, Alyssa Aherne signed her first professional contract in May 2023.
The winger was part of the Under-21 WSL Academy League and Cup-winning side in 2022 and was the 12th Academy graduate to sign for the women’s team since it reformed in 2018.
At the time, Alyssa said: “I’m so proud to sign professionally at this great football club – after being here since the age of 13. It’s a dream come true and a wonderful day for me and my family.”
Aherne was sent out on loan for the 2023/24 campaign with fellow Women’s Super League side Everton to help her develop her game with regular minutes.
After ending the loan spell early, Aherne spent the rest of the season developing with Marc Skinner’s first-team squad, before joining Championship side Sheffield United for the 2024/25 term.
