Janssen’s first steps in professional football came with German outfit SGS Essen, but she truly made a name for herself after making the switch to England with Arsenal. That stint saw her pick up everything there is to win in the domestic game, kicking off with an FA Cup and League Cup double in 2015/16. She followed that up two years later with another League Cup before lifting the WSL title in 2018/19 - her final season with the club. The defender’s next move took her to German heavyweights VfL Wolfsburg and the trophies - two Frauen Bundesliga titles and three DFB-Pokals - kept rolling in. She also reached the Champions League final twice with the club, unfortunately falling to defeat against Lyon and Barcelona. She has also made her mark on the international stage with the Netherlands, comfortably earning over 100 caps for her country and playing her part in their Euro 2017 triumph. On joining the Reds, Janssen said: “I’m delighted to be at such a big club like Manchester United. Signing here is a really proud moment for me, and I cannot wait to now return to the English league and create new winning moments with this talented Manchester United team.”
