A full international for Scotland by the age of 17, Emma Watson is an exciting young talent who brings energy and enthusiasm to United's midfield ranks.
After five years with Boroughmuir Thistle in her homeland, Watson joined Rangers’ Academy in 2017. Having worked her way through the Glasgow outfit's youth ranks, she was rewarded with her senior debut at the age of 15, during a 5-0 triumph over Motherwell in 2021. The midfielder's first goal would come later that year, against her former club, and she would go on to help Rangers lift the Scottish Women's Premier League title for 2021/22. In the 2022/23 season, Watson was rewarded with a professional contract and soon found herself involved in UEFA Women's Champions League games, scoring in a second-round tie with Benfica. Having impressed at club level, during a term in which she was named PFA Scotland Women's Young Player of the Year, the midfielder made her senior international debut on 7 April 2023, in a 1-0 win over Australia. Four days later, Emma impressively netted a brace in a 4-0 victory against Costa Rica. On 25 August 2023, Watson signed for United and, upon making the move to Manchester, proudly said: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign for Manchester United. It’s a huge club with a lot of history and I cannot wait to get started. I’ll give everything to this team and I’m looking forward to pulling on the red jersey.”
