The talented young defender signed her first professional contract with the club in October 2024, on her 18th birthday.
Upon putting pen to paper on her maiden pro deal, she said: “Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world and to sign my first professional contract here just feels amazing.”
Newell progressed through the youth ranks at West Bromwich Albion and was dual registered with United while representing the Baggies in the third tier, during the 2023/24 campaign.
That season, the teenager’s solid displays for our national-title-winning Under-21s also earned her the Women’s Academy Players’ Player of the Year award.
A member of the first-team squad’s 2024 training camps in Malta and Marbella, Lucy has been able to gain invaluable experience alongside her senior colleagues as she works towards making her debut for Marc Skinner’s side.
