Maya
Biography
An exciting young prospect who joined United as the WSL’s all-time record holder for appearances made as a teenager.
The full-back’s potential was spotted quickly, and she was swiftly given an opportunity to impress on the senior stage, making both her professional and league debuts for Brighton at the age of 16. Le Tissier continued to kick on and get more and more comfortable in the side, with her consistent performances seeing her win back-to-back Women’s Young Player of the Year awards with the Seagulls, as well as being nominated for the corresponding PFA accolade in 2021/22. In March 2021, the defender was named among the top 10 best young footballers at Goal’s prestigious NXGN awards before joining United in July 2022. On the international stage, having become the first female player to represent Guernsey’s Under-16 boys’ team, Maya captained England at Under-15s and Under-17s levels, as well as being capped by the Under-19s and Under-23s teams, prior to her move to the Reds. Her United career couldn't have got off to a better start, as the defender netted a double in a WSL opening-weekend victory over Reading at Leigh Sports Village. It was the launchpad for an impressive start to life up north for Maya, who quickly formed a strong partnership at the heart of Marc Skinner's central defence with Millie Turner. Our no.15's form was rewarded with a first senior England call-up, before she made her professional debut on the international stage against Norway in November 2022.
