Maya
Biography
In August 2024, defender Maya Le Tissier became United Women’s captain aged just 22 years old.
Having first signed for the club two years earlier from Brighton & Hove Albion, the Guernsey-born centre-back took the extra responsibility in her stride, playing every minute of every game and, along with partner Millie Turner, helping the Reds register the joint-most WSL clean sheets alongside champions Chelsea. Those contributions made her a WSL Team of the Season member for the 2024/25 season, and alongside her defensive duties, she was also shortlisted for Goal of the Season for her volley against Everton. Maya received her first England call-up in November 2022, and after a strong debut season as United captain, was part of the triumphant Lionesses’ Euro 2025 squad.
