In August 2024, defender Maya Le Tissier became United Women’s captain aged just 22 years old.

Remarkably, she ended 2025/26 having not missed a minute of competitive football, her third consecutive season doing so, having taken part in all 136 official games since she joined from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022. That has seen her bank back-to-back WSL Team of the Season inclusions in 2024/25 and 2025/26, having been named our joint Players' Player of the Year with Ella Toone a term prior. Maya received her first England call-up in November 2022, and after a strong debut season as United captain, was part of the triumphant Lionesses’ Euro 2025 squad.
