'We have the belief to turn it round'
Luke Shaw was pleased with the eventual result, but believes we need to stop starting so slowly...
I think it just shows what our season has been like really. First half, we had some control of the game but it wasn’t good enough. We go 1-0 down from a bit of sloppy play from us, giving the ball away. We go in at half-time, the manager says exactly what we need to be told. We’ve been in this situation countless times this season, we know what we can do in the second half and we did it. It’s a positive we got the three points but we need to be better in the first half I think as soon as we got that one we always had that belief that we could go on and win. I felt we were putting pressure on them and we defended well, especially in the second half. I knew we were going to score, we always score, but we need to make sure defensively we’re much more sound. I knew Bruno was going to score the penalty, we practised them yesterday after training, me and him, for about 20 minutes. So if he didn’t score, I would have got at him! I knew he was going to score. Mason again showing what a brilliant player he is. I don’t think he’s a talent anymore, he’s doing it in the best league in the world. He needs to keep his head down, keep working hard and the world’s his oyster. I’m there just to push Bruno along, make sure he’s not being sloppy! The run of form he’s on is outstanding. He doesn’t just bring goals, he’s brings experience as well. He’s a vital part of our team, he’s shown that, I hope he can keep this form up until the end of the season. Like I said, we’ve got the belief and confidence that we can turn results around but it’s not a situation we want to put ourselves in. We’re talented and with the squad we’ve got, we should be dominating games like this more often.
