"A very positive performance. It's no surprise that on 80 minutes he felt the consequences of the intensity, as it’s his first match of the season. But he’s going to get more."
"I was not worried at half-time. I was disappointed with the score but not worried. The team was playing really well and controlling the game. It’s just a question of keeping doing it in the second half and the goals would arrive. I was not worried at all. "Now, tomorrow is a day off and, on a day off, I don’t think about football. Only on Thursday will I start thinking about the derby."
"I am pleased with the victory, the quality of the performance and the attitude of the players. They have pride to play, they didn't want to lose and they wanted to finish well. They wanted to keep a good record at home in the Champions League so I am happy with the win and the performance."
"They scored a strange goal but otherwise we had total control of the game. We showed one more time how much strength we have in this team. It's good for us to finish first in the group."
"I think it's always a good feeling to get on the scoresheet but I think the most important thing for us tonight was to get the win and qualify with no injuries with the game at the weekend. "We are pleased to be through. That's something for us all to be proud of and I think it puts us in good stead for the rest of the tournament and we can head into the knockout stages feeling positive."
"We needed to win. We knew we were already not qualified, we needed just a point, but we always want to win, especially at Old Trafford. We had a few good chances in the second half and scored twice so we are happy. We can go into the weekend game in the best conditions."
So, elsewhere in the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain edged Bayern Munich out of top spot despite a 3-1 defeat tonight. It leaves the German giants as potential opponents in the next round for the Reds. With Roma beating Chelsea to first place in their pool, we cannot face either of those sides but we could meet Juventus after Barcelona won Group D.
To confirm the standings, United finish top of Group A with 15 points, three clear of Basel, with CSKA Moscow on nine, thus qualifying the Russians for the Europa League. Meanwhile, Benfica ended pointless.

Manchester United are through to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League – as Group A winners – following a 2-1 win over CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford. In the end the victory was quite comfortable, but the Reds were made to work hard after the visitors took a shock lead through Vitinho’s deflected shot in front of the Stretford End. Belgium international Romelu Lukaku scored his 13th goal of the second to equalise shortly after the half-time break, latching onto a superb pass from Paul Pogba, before Marcus Rashford put United back in front with a well-taken finish just two minutes later. Luke Shaw returned to the starting XI and made a good impression on the left flank, which was a positive, while Axel Tuanzebe made his European debut as a substitute. Jose Mourinho was also able to take Antonio Valencia, Ander Herrera and Lukaku off early with the Manchester derby on Sunday clearly in mind. On the whole, a positive night for United!
