Access All Areas is back, for the first time since football went into lockdown in March!
With COVID-19 restrictions reducing our access around the ground on matchdays, our weekly in-depth, behind-the-scenes tour of Old Trafford has had to take a backseat in recent months.
However, we managed to get a roving snapper inside the Theatre of Dreams for last weekend’s Premier League match against Manchester City - and the outcome, as you can see below, is absolutely spectacular.
Our camera man then takes a stroll around the outside of the stadium - it’s easy to forget just how magnificent Old Trafford looks if you haven’t been there in a while. Then it’s into the ground, where MUTV presenter Stewart Gardner is recording his pre-match video for our Official App, website and social media platforms.
After nipping down into the concourse, we’re back in the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand and then down to the pitchside interview stations where Scott McTominay speaks to Sky Sports, before Stew returns, accompanied this time by co-host Ben Thornley, as they announce the teams live on MUTV.
Before long, as the Stone Roses' This Is The One blares around the ground, the players make their way on to the pitch and the action gets started - that’s when this epic video really comes into its own. From behind the goal, the viewer can see Old Trafford as never before.
You really do see the game from a different perspective with this unique angle; whether it’s our intricate passing, McTominay’s near miss at the back post, the disallowed penalty and a wonderful tackle on Sterling from Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
After the game, our camera operator catches snippets of MUTV’s interviews with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, David De Gea and Luke Shaw, before closing on a poignant shot of an empty Old Trafford.
This edition of Access All Areas shows sections of Old Trafford you simply wouldn’t see on a regular matchday and brings behind-the-scenes coverage that few get to currently witness in the flesh at the Theatre of Dreams.
Trust me, this is one video you don’t want to miss!
