Anthony Martial.

Could Martial start against Sheffield United?

Tuesday 15 December 2020 11:30

Manchester United no.9 Anthony Martial is a prominent figure in our latest images from the Aon Training Complex, as the France international edges closer to full fitness following a recent injury.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are currently preparing for an important Premier League match against Sheffield United on Thursday night at Bramall Lane, where Martial is determined to be involved.

The 25-year-old picked up a niggling injury during the 3-1 win over West Ham United earlier this month and it forced him to miss the vital Champions League game against RB Leipzig in Germany.

Martial was named on the bench for last Saturday’s Manchester derby at Old Trafford and he played for 16 minutes, after replacing young Academy graduate Mason Greenwood in the second half.

As you can see in the gallery of exclusive images below, Martial took part in Monday’s energetic session at a floodlight Aon Training Complex as preparations for Thursday’s game continue.

Edinson Cavani is not seen in our latest batch of images, but that does not necessarily mean the Uruguay international is unavailable. Solskjaer reported last Friday that our no.7 had been training “on the grass” as he recovers from the injury he sustained at the London Stadium on 5 December.

Paul Pogba is one the players who features frequently in our gallery and, as you will see, the midfielder is deep in conversation with Bruno Fernandes. The two Reds have both been influential in recent weeks and will hope to make an impact against the Blades in Yorkshire later this week.

In case you missed it, following the Manchester derby on Saturday night, Pogba released a passionate statement via his official Instagram account to reiterate his commitment to United.

"I've always fought and will always fight for Manchester United, my team-mates and the fans," wrote Paul. "Bla bla is not important. The future is far, today is what matters and I am 1000 per cent involved!"

Solskjaer is set to hold his pre-match press conference on Wednesday and, as usual, you can watch in full via ManUtd.com, our Official App and MUTV. The exact timing of that media briefing is still to be confirmed, but we’ll let you know in due course.

The manager will most certainly discuss a match in which United can register a 10th consecutive away win in the Premier League, which would provide a major boost ahead of the hectic festive fixture list.

Remember, Thursday's game will be broadcast live on Amazon Prime Video.
