Garnacho: I can’t wait to be back

Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho says he is “desperate” to get back playing after an extended period on the sidelines due to an ankle injury.

The teenager has been out of action since March’s 0-0 draw with Southampton, but encouragingly returned to team training on Friday

Later in the day, it was announced that Alejandro has signed a new long-term deal with the club and, in an interview to mark that positive news, Garnacho spoke to MUTV’s Mark Sullivan about his desire to help the team on the pitch once again.

“I’m really keen to get back playing once again,”
the 18-year-old said, speaking in Spanish, during the second part of an extended interview.

“I can’t wait to get back to Old Trafford and hear the fans chanting my name, it really gives me goose bumps. I’m desperate to be back playing.

“I’m back in training again, so let’s see when I can be back in the stadium helping the team.”

Garnacho wasn’t involved in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Aston Villa at Old Trafford, but everyone at United will be hoping to see the youngster involved again soon, as the games continue to come around at the business end of the season.

Having helped the team win the Carabao Cup earlier in the term, our no.49 says he’s determined to play his part in more success over the coming weeks, as the Reds fight for a top-four place in the Premier League, before June’s FA Cup final date with Manchester City.

Alejandro is keen to help United add to this season's Carabao Cup triumph.
“Nobody in their life would ever have imagined me, at just 18 years old, already winning a trophy with this club, Manchester United, having helped them to achieve that as part of the team,”
Alejandro added, speaking about winning the Carabao Cup - his first piece of senior silverware as a Red.

“This really motivates me even more to want to win more things. In the end, I’m very ambitious and will not settle for having won one trophy.

“This season we’ve still got one trophy ahead of us to play for and we’ll be battling for it as hard as we can.

“And we also have the target of getting into the Champions League, of course. And with my ambition and my will to win, I feel even extra motivated.”
