Amad makes positive step in recovery

There is some positive news from Carrington on Monday as Amad is taking a big step on his road to recovery, after being injured in the summer.

The young winger sustained a knee problem during Tour 2023 in the United States that the club confirmed would rule him out of the first part of the campaign.

It was particularly bad timing for the 21-year-old, who had featured quite prominently during the pre-season fixtures and was looking to force his way into Erik ten Hag's plans.

Amad returns to the grassvideo

Amad was voted the PFA Fans' Player of the Year in the Championship last term, after a stellar campaign on loan at Sunderland.

The spell on Wearside showcased the Ivory Coast international's talents and he top scored for the Black Cats as they reached the play-offs, before losing to Luton Town in the semi-finals.

Our exclusive video captured Amad running out on the grass at our base on Monday morning, the first time he has been out there since the season got under way.

It was encouraging to see him back, although obviously he will not be rushed into action.

Meanwhile, the Reds are preparing for Wednesday's Carabao Cup clash with Newcastle United, the team we beat in last term's final, and bidding to produce a strong response to the disappointing derby defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
