Benjamin Sesko has stressed the importance of working as a “team together”
after his stoppage-time equaliser away against West Ham United.
The Hammers set up to frustrate the Reds and did so for a large portion of the game, notching at the other end before sitting back and closing up the space available for us to attack.
Sesko was introduced in the 69th minute for Matheus Cunha and as the game stretched into the sixth minute of added time, he proved to be the key difference between a loss and a draw.
Bryan Mbeumo found the Slovenian in the box and with a deftly-flicked volley, the latter rounded Mads Hermansen to rescue a point, which in turn secured another vital point on the road.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Sesko said: “I'm happy with my finish, but yeah, I'm not so happy with the draw, because I know we deserve the win, because we were fighting.
”Unfortunately, just the days come when you are a bit unlucky. Maybe the intensity was not exactly where it should be.
“But yeah, we were fighting in the end. We got a draw, which was really important.”
That fighting spirit has been on show on plenty of occasions in recent weeks, with late wins against both Arsenal and Fulham preceding today's stoppage-time draw.
Sesko was also the headline character in that victory against the Cottagers, but he was quick to credit the team over his own involvement, when asked about that fighting spirit.
“We're playing for each other, doing everything together,”
he revealed.
“When difficult moments come, we are stepping together, which is really important, and can lead to the results, like they are right now.”
Our next match comes in a couple of week's time, away against Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, for which Sesko believes there is positives to take from this trip to the capital.
“I think we just have to keep on going, like we were doing the last games,”
the striker said.
“We have to keep in mind that we have to play for each other, and we have to take care in every single situation.
”Every second of the game, to be focused, to be on point, and obviously, when the chances are coming, to finish them.“
