The Brazil Football Confederation has confirmed Manchester United defender Alex Telles is available to face Uruguay on Tuesday evening, after testing negative for coronavirus.
Medical staff at the Aon Training Complex were monitoring the situation and our update on Monday confirmed the club would make an assessment when Telles returns to England later this week.
However, since then, the Brazil Football Confederation has published a positive update on Telles and his availability with a statement via their official website.
“The defender already had the disease, was asymptomatic and with a non-transmissible condition of the virus, but he could not travel to Uruguay,”
the update reads.
“On the last exam, however, Telles' test came back negative and the defender was released for the game.”
Alex helped close out the game for Tite’s side and, as things stand, Brazil sit top of the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying table, and are the only team with a 100 per cent record after three fixtures.
Brazil’s match against Uruguay at Estadio Centenario could see Telles come up against his new United team-mate Edinson Cavani, who is back in his country’s squad after a one-year absence.
