Casemiro set for 150th United game at West Ham

Casemiro is set to make his 150th appearance for Manchester United in Tuesday night's Premier League clash away to West Ham United.

The Brazilian, who joined United in 2022 and will leave the club in the summer upon the expiry of his contract, has been named in Michael Carrick's starting XI for the 20:15 GMT kick-off at the London Stadium.

It's an unchanged side from the one that began the 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford three days ago.

That means it will be Senne Lammens in goal, behind a back four of Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw for the fifth game in a row.

Kobbie Mainoo has also been a mainstay of the XI across Carrick's five matches and looks set to partner Casemiro in midfield, on the latter's milestone night.

Further forward, it's the familiar front four of Amad, Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who have been fluid in their attacking positions over recent weeks.

The substitutes' bench is also the same as it was last time out, with recent absentees Matthijs de Ligt, Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu and Mason Mount remaining unavailable.

Speaking to MUTV's Zarah Connolly pre-match, Carrick explained that the quality in his group made it a tough decision to name an unchanged side, even if that XI has started our two most recent wins against Spurs and Fulham.

“We’ve got a really good squad, so it’s not easy just to pick the team,” Carrick said. “The boys are in a good rhythm, obviously feeling good without getting carried away and looking forward to the game.

“The whole squad has contributed and continued to do that. Off the bench tonight, finishing the game, however that looks, has been important for us so we need to carry that on as well.”

For West Ham, head coach Nuno Espirito Santo makes one alteration from their 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday, with midfielder Freddie Potts in for experienced striker Callum Wilson.
