Confirmed: United XI to face Watford

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United team to face Watford at Vicarage Road has been announced.

The manager has made three changes from the team that faced Manchester City in our last Premier League fixture as Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Nemanja Matic come in for Eric Bailly, Fred and Mason Greenwood.

Those alterations suggest Solskjaer has opted for a back four in the clash with Claudio Ranieri's Hornets, which kicks off at 15:00 GMT.

Why Greenwood missed the Watford game

Speaking to MUTV at the ground, Ole explained his thinking behind the team selection.

“We've had a good week of training and preparation,” the boss said.

“It boils down a little bit to what's been happening on the training pitch and also the opposition we're playing against. We're facing a team with lots of pace and strength and a couple of injuries.”

Jadon Sancho, who was in the Hornets' Academy from the age of seven to 15, is handed a start against his former club and our manager is backing him to shine.

“First of all Mason is out after testing positive for COVID which is unfortunate for him,” Ole said.

“Jadon's been having a very good week, he's looking forward to playing on his old patch, I've still got more goals than him here! Let's see if I can carry that after this game!”
