Ten Hag explains team selection for Leicester test

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been discussing the changes to the side that will face Leicester City in the Premier League at Old Trafford.

The boss has made five alterations to the XI that lined up at the Nou Camp for our 2-2 draw with Barcelona on Thursday night.

Three of those are in the back four, as Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez all come in to join Luke Shaw in defence.

In midfield Marcel Sabitzer returns to start alongside Fred, while Alejandro Garnacho joins the attacking unit with Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Wout Weghorst.

During his pre-match interviews, Ten Hag confirmed that Harry Maguire, who is absent from the squad, is out injured.

On today’s match, he added: “The first game is always the most important. So, we have to pay more attention to that because our players know that the first game is always the most important.

“We know we face an opponent who are a really good team, a really structured team, so we have to play our best if we want to win.

Meanwhile, Casemiro remains suspended in the league following his red card against Crystal Palace.

Asked about the Brazilian, the boss said: “I never talk about players who are not available.

“We have to work with the players who are there and with this team we have to beat them.”

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Brendan Rodgers has named an unchanged side to the one which routed Tottenham 4-1 last weekend.

Reiterating the threat the Foxes will pose, Ten Hag said: “They are doing really well and a different team to the one in September when we faced them.

“It's a good structured team. They are a decent attacking threat.
