Galbraith confirms United departure

Ethan Galbraith has confirmed he is leaving Manchester United.

The Northern Ireland international is on loan at Salford City, whose season is still in progress, with the Ammies taking a 1-0 lead into the second leg of the League Two play-off semi-final with Stockport County on Saturday.

“After six years, my time has come to an end with this magnificent club, Manchester United,” he wrote on Instagram. “I want to thank the club, coaching staff and players for helping me become a better player, a better person and for making me feel at home.”

Galbraith added: “My earliest ambition as a boy was to become a professional footballer and I'm forever grateful to the club for giving me the opportunity and support to fulfil that dream.

It's been a privilege and I feel very fortunate to have been able to represent the club.

“I step into the next chapter of my career a more mature, well-rounded person and I'm excited for what's next.”

Galbraith made one senior appearance for United, in the 2019 Europa League tie against Astana in Kazakhstan, during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's tenure. The 22-year-old midfielder came off the bench in the closing stages of the 2-1 defeat, replacing Angel Gomes, to receive priceless experience of European football.

The spell at Salford is his second loan move, after being a regular for Doncaster Rovers in 2021/22, and he has adapted superbly to senior men's football.

Ethan will always be part of the Academy family and welcome back at United. Everyone at the club is proud of his achievements to date and we look forward to watching a successful career unfold.
