A win which had the world United in celebration

Manchester United’s remarkable win against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday evening was celebrated joyously in Paris and Manchester, but the buzz was in no way restricted to those areas.

Five years since that night in Parisvideo

After all, it was the first time a team had overturned a deficit of two or more goals following a first-leg home defeat in the UEFA Champions League. United had made modern history, and all that with a team shorn of 10 senior first-teamers.

On the club’s Official App, interactions poured in from all corners of the United-supporting community. Users from the United Kingdom inevitably topped our stat charts, but close behind were Nigeria and then the United States. Ghana, South Africa and Malaysia were next, with Indonesia, Kenya and Solskjaer’s homeland, Norway, rounding out the top 10.
A Red in Damascus, Syria, @hassan1994 posted a Twitter video of himself and loads of fellow fans chanting Ole’s name. He said: “One beautiful night we had #OlesAtTheWheel.”

Shane Scott (@scottiedevil11) tweeted: “Big congratulations from Sydney, Australia lads. Great goals Marcus and rom. Ole u are amazing.”

Rory Murphy, a fan who resides Stateside, revealed: “Today was one of the first times since I moved to the US that it was a struggle being at work for a game and I couldn’t focus. Group games aren't the same (or EL games for that matter) and the less said about Sevilla last year the better. Will need some early finishes for QF…”

Meanwhile in Malta, Irish season ticket holder Adrian, who was on holiday and watching the game at the Malta supporters’ club’s base, texted in: “Crazy result. I’m in Malta, place going wild!”

One thing is for sure: the world was United in celebration.
