Mata: De Gea showed he's an amazing keeper

Hi everyone. I am writing this just after getting back home after our win at Wembley. It's our sixth in a row, which as you can imagine is contributing to a positive atmosphere in the team.

The time that we spent together in Dubai last week was good. We enjoyed the togetherness that these kinds of camps give you and the sun always helps. On top of that, we worked hard to prepare for the game that awaited us in London.

We paid Wembley a visit feeling good, against a Tottenham side that is very tough to play against. They started by pressing us, but we put ourselves in front after a great move just before the half-time break.

It was a fantastic pass from Paul [Pogba} and the perfect finish from the 'Wonder Kid' [Marcus Rashford] . In the second half, as was expected, Spurs made us suffer, to be honest. But David [De Gea] appeared, once again.

He showed yesterday that he is an amazing goalkeeper, and the second 45 minutes emphasised that in memorable fashion. It seemed impossible that a goal would go in in for them.

He gave off the impression that no matter where they put the ball, it would end up with him. Incredible.

Thanks to him, and the hard work from all of the team, we took three important points to keep climbing up the table. Next weekend we welcome Brighton, with everyone wanting to extend our current run in front of our own fans.

For me, the week had another important moment on Thursday, in Madrid, where I had the honour of receiving one of the National Sport Awards.

It was a really lovely morning. Some of my family were able to join me and the award is recognition for the work we have done over the last year and a half with Common Goal, which as you know is a movement that keeps on growing.

The award that I was given in my country’s royal palace is for everyone that shares our idea and that supports, each in their own way, our initiative. It was also a pleasure to spend the day with some of the people from the film Campeones - you were all great.

Hugs,

Juan.
