Manchester United are into the 2024/25 Europa League final after a stunning 4-1 semi-final (7-1 aggregate) win over Athletic Club.
Ruben Amorim's side were made to work hard for our progression, falling behind at Old Trafford, after Mikel Jauregizar's long-range strike stunned the home fans.
But after showing plenty of grit and determination, United scored four times in the final 20 minutes, with Mason Mount (two), Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund all finding the net.
There was a clear winner in our Man of the Match poll, as one Red made it a night to remember on another special European evening at our famous old stadium...
It was clear there was only going to be one winner, and deservedly so, with Mason Mount topping our poll on ManUtd.com and in the United App.
Our no.7 scored the opening goal with a Federico Macheda-esque finish, turning superbly before curling an effort into the far corner past Julen Agirrezabala.
He then added a second to set the seal on an emphatic victory, lofting the ball over the helpless Athletic Club goalkeeper, sending Old Trafford into raptures.
“The crowd's been unbelievable,”
said Mount when speaking to TNT Sports after the game.
“They've stuck with us. For me personally, obviously my first goals here, at Old Trafford, so a special night.
”It's one I've been waiting for a long time. And, as we said before, and to go back to Bilbao. A special moment for us tonight, and we want to finish strong now.”
There were honourable mentions for Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro, who both performed well across the encounter that finished with a six-goal advantage for Amorim's men.
But we cannot take the shine off a night to remember for Mason who netted his first Old Trafford goals for the club.
Congratulations Mase, well deserved!
