Live on MUTV: Aston Villa v United U23s

Manchester United's Under-23s are back in action tonight (Monday), when facing Aston Villa away, live on MUTV.

Neil Wood's side can return to the top of the Premier League 2 Division 2 table with a victory at Walsall's Banks's Stadium, after West Ham United reached the summit with a 4-3 victory at Middlesbrough on Friday night.

The young Reds have been in excellent form this term but team selection could be affected by Wednesday's Carabao Cup tie against Rochdale at Old Trafford, as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks likely to include several of the club's Academy prospects in his senior squad.

A late Dylan Levitt goal gave the Under-23s victory in our last outing, against Fulham.

Hence, there could be an opportunity for a number of Neil Ryan's Under-18s to be involved against Villa, as has already been the case in other Under-23 games this season.

Teden Mengi and Will Fish formed a youthful central defensive partnership last time out, when Dylan Levitt scored the only goal of the game against Fulham at Leigh Sports Village.

Czech goalkeeper Matej Kovar preserved his remarkable record of winning every game this term with a wonderful penalty save from Timmy Abraham in the dying seconds of that victory against the Cottagers; Kovar missed the 2-2 draw with West Ham, when Paul Woolston played instead.

Villa currently sit in 10th place in the table after a 2-0 defeat by Stoke City last week.

Matej Kovar celebrates his penalty save during the Fulham game.

The match is being shown live on MUTV with coverage starting at 18:30 BST, half an hour before kick-off.

Friday's home game against Norwich City (19:00 BST kick-off) will also be screened live by the official club channel, while entry at Leigh Sports Village will be free to all supporters.
