LEARNING WHAT IT TAKES ON LOAN

“Our club, in a wonderful way, distorts the perception of what a journey to the first team looks like,” says Nick Cox, director of Manchester United’s Academy, in a recent feature with our Inside United magazine.

'Fans should understand a few things...'

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Congratulations to midfielder Jack Moorhouse on making his debut for Republic of Ireland Under-21s side and to Chido Obi on his first appearance for Denmark at the same level. They are two of several young United players enjoying great international experiences across Europe over the last week.

Striker Ethan Wheatley, currently on loan at Walsall, netted a fine goal for England’s Under-19s, who were up against a Wales side spearheaded by fellow Red Gabriele Biancheri.

Also for the Three Lions, Toby Collyer and Elyh Harrison started for the Under-20s in a 2-2 draw against Switzerland, while Collyer was a second-half substitute in a draw against France. Jack Fletcher and Harry Amass featured in Under-18s draws against Czech Republic and France, before Amass contributed an assist, as captain, in a 1-0 win over Portugal on Tuesday.

Three youngsters — Dan Armer, Tyler Fletcher and James Overy — started together for Scotland Under-19s in a 1-1 draw with Sweden.

Samuel Lusale was a second-half sub for Slovakia Under-19s against both Montenegro and Georgia.
