Action and reaction: Fulham away

Manchester United were involved in another enthralling Premier League encounter on Wednesday evening, winning 2-1 against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The hosts drew first blood after just five minutes when Ademola Lookman was found marginally onside inside the penalty area and was able to slot the ball past David De Gea.

Thankfully, Fulham's lead only lasted sixteen minutes until Edinson Cavani tucked home the loose ball after French goalkeeper Alphonse Areola fumbled a low cross from Bruno Fernandes.

Honours were therefore even at the break but United's growing dominance paid dividends 20 minutes into the second period when Paul Pogba killed a lofted clearance on the right wing and cut inside to fire the Reds ahead with an unstoppable left-footed shot.

It was a stunning goal and it proved to be a worthy clincher for the Reds, who held firm under some late pressure from the home side and had David De Gea to thank for making a trademark save with his feet to deny Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
