Michael Carrick has stressed there is a calmness around Manchester United that exists within the Carrington bubble.
Our new head coach looked refreshed and totally relaxed as he met with staff, sat down to chat on the Inside Carrington podcast and looked forward to getting to work with the squad on Wednesday morning.
Amid the feverish news cycle around the club, the former midfielder exuded authority and tranquility that suggested he was taking everything in his stride, and was impressed by the vibe around the plush complex.
“It's the first time I've been in this building,”
he said. “Obviously, I've been here a few times for different things but never in the building.
”So, it's hugely impressive. I mean we're all getting spoiled, I've been spoiled today already. I think it's part of the club. We want best in class, we want to be pushing boundaries, pushing limits and always pushing for more.
“Certainly, the building and the set-up and the lay-out and, I have to say, the atmosphere within the building, it's hugely positive,”
he continued. “It's really welcoming and has been a really good environment to settle into already.
”I felt that, I felt the love and everyone is wiling to pull in the right direction. It's been a great place to be in on day one.“
Carrick feels perfectly prepared for what lies ahead, with the Manchester derby on the horizon, taking place at Old Trafford on Saturday.
”As I said, coming into the building and feeling that calmness and the composure, it felt quite normal to me,“ he added.
“And that's not playing it down or being blase. I just felt like I was in such a really good place, with good people, who were all pulling in the same direction. And the backroom staff here are fantastic.
”I've met pretty much all of them and gone through it, the plans and what's gone before. What's to come, in so much as what it feels or might look like. There's all sorts going on but it's actually been really quite a calm day.
“Quite a clear day in terms of focus, really, what we want out of the next few days, what we want it to look like. What we want the end of the season to look like. How we want to move forward, as a club. It's been a really, really good day. I've loved it and it just give me a lot of positivity.”
