Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic was delighted with Saturday’s 4-1 win over Newcastle and says the Reds are now looking to kick on ahead of a busy schedule to come.
United ended the day at the top of the Premier League following a convincing win over the Magpies at Old Trafford, a game in which the Serbian played the 90 minutes at the heart of the midfield.
The victory, on our return from the international break, backed up a solid and unbeaten start to the season in the Premier League for Matic and co, who picked up seven points from a possible nine in August and another three on Saturday.
“It was exciting, hopefully we're going to continue to do the same job and try to win some trophies this season [for the fans],”he told MUTV’s Stewart Gardner post-match.
”It was fantastic [the atmosphere]. Obviously, [Cristiano] Ronaldo brings some positive energy to the stadium again. They deserve all the best.“
“He has the quality to score goals from every position, I think he will be a very good addition to our squad,”he said.
“I think we have a great attack. We also have a great balance between experience and young players, so I think we have everything in the team. We need to use that.Healthy competition is always good. You need competition to win trophies so I'm very happy.
”
“We will play every three days, so we have a big squad, we have to use that. I think everyone is ready, excited, motivated. I can't see any reason why we won't be a success this season.”
