Jadon Sancho will be involved in Manchester United’s opening Premier League game of the season against Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.
The English winger joined the club on a five-year deal in July and began training with the Reds earlier this week.
Having had a three-week break following his involvement at the European Championship, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Sancho has made an impression in training already and fans can expect to get a glimpse of Old Trafford’s new no.25 this weekend.
“Jadon has come in and done very good this week,”
Solskjaer explained to MUTV.
“It may be a little bit too early, but I’ll see how he is. He’s definitely involved in the squad.”
Expanding on the subject, in his pre-match press conference on Friday lunchtime, the boss explained the reason behind Sancho's belated arrival to pre-season training.
“He’s had a good week,”
Ole began.
“Unfortunately, he was ill after his holiday and we’ve lost out on a few days of training with him, but he’s gelled really well with the group and he’s looked sharper than expected. He’ll be involved but I can’t tell you if he’ll start or not.”
Fans are understandably excited to see Sancho take to the pitch at the Theatre of Dreams. An out-and-out winger with pace to burn, flair in his play and a history of contributing goals and assists week in, week out, the 21-year-old seems ready-made to play for Manchester United.
It seems most likely that he’ll be involved from the bench, but Solskjaer didn’t rule out a start for the London-born forward.
