Manchester United and Chelsea have mutually agreed to postpone the Under-23s fixture that was due to take place this Friday.
With the welfare of Academy players and staff always Manchester United’s highest priority, the decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to prioritise the health and safety of both teams.
The club regrets the inconvenience caused to supporters who were due to attend Leigh Sports Village.
A further announcement on the rearrangement of the fixture will be made in due course.
The corresponding game was a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge in August, with Alvaro Fernandez scoring an equaliser for Neil Wood's Reds late in the game.
Chelsea had gone down to 10 men when Josh Brooking was sent off but took the lead through Harvey Vale's penalty.
