Training update ahead of Tottenham

Raphael Varane is back in training at Carrington ahead of Manchester United's Premier League game against Tottenham on Saturday.

The France international missed the derby defeat to City after testing positive for Covid-19 but was back in the fold when our official photographers captured the session on Wednesday.

Edinson Cavani was also part of the main group, as he could make a return to the matchday squad, while Cristiano Ronaldo trained separately as he works towards regaining full fitness.

Uruguay international Cavani has had groin problems, while Ronaldo has been troubled by a hip issue.

Cristiano Ronaldo is still working on his fitness.

All three players missed the Etihad Stadium encounter, along with Luke Shaw, and the Reds will be desperate to bounce back against one of our challengers for a top-four spot in Spurs.

The north Londoners inflicted a 5-0 defeat on Everton on Monday night but United won 3-0 in the corresponding fixture on 30 October.

Ronaldo scored a brilliant volleyed opener in the capital before further strikes by Cavani and Marcus Rashford wrapped up one of our best performances of the season.

Ralf Rangnick's side are currently in fifth spot in the table, one point behind Arsenal, although the Gunners have three games in hand.

Our next league assignment after Spurs is not until early April, when we welcome Leicester City to Old Trafford.
